Youth Therapy Programs

We help your child become healthier, happier and more successful

Through Peak Wellness Center, every child and teen in southeastern Wyoming has access to excellent, affordable mental health care.

We can help with many types of mental health challenges—mood disorders, ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, social fears, recovery from trauma, loss of a loved one, trouble making friends, and many others.

Our treatment approach

Our highly experienced mental health team—in consultation with our licensed child psychiatrist—customizes a therapy plan for each person.

Our first response is family therapy, using what’s called a family systems approach: looking at what’s happening in the context of family, friends, school and other influences. We also take a close look at things like environment, nutrition, genetics, and past experience that influence health and behavior.

As reported by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, only 20% of more than 4 million kids in the U.S. with mental health problems affecting their daily life receive mental health care.

It doesn’t have to be this way! We can change this.

Peak offers comprehensive, affordable mental health services—available to everyone in our community—to do just that.

Different types of youth therapy

Family therapy

A group process, family therapy involves a series of counseling sessions to improve communications, identify the sources of problems and disconnects, and find solutions that work for everyone.

Our licensed counselors have special training in leading sessions to provide constructive, mutually agreed therapy goals.

Individual counseling

During individual counseling, a licensed therapist works with you and your child to help treat your child’s emotional, social or behavioral problems as well as other issues that interfere with his or her mental well-being and success.

We tailor our approach to your child's needs, age, challenges and aptitudes.

Group day-treatment sessions

Interactive group therapy sessions and activities give children of ages 3 to 18, grouped by age, the opportunity to learn and practice new skills in social situations. Peak offers separate groups focused on different themes, such as

  • Making friends
  • Emotion management
  • Tools for school (for pre-K children)
  • Chemical Abuse Treatment (CAT) groups for teens

Talk with your child’s therapist about group programs that fit with your child’s needs and therapy plan.
