If you’ve reached your limit with your child or teenager’s distractibility, hyperactivity, and extremely impulsive behaviors…
If you’re feeling worn out, frustrated, and unsure about where to go from here…
Our team of compassionate, caring experts is here to offer you—and your family—a helping hand.
Here at Peak, we take a bit of a different approach to treating Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Rather than focusing entirely on the individual child or teen, we take more of a family-centered approach—which means we incorporate family counseling sessions in addition to your child’s individual counseling sessions.
It’s a minimal time commitment—about an hour or so—but it makes a world of difference.
Why do we prefer to do it this way?
Because incorporating a child’s family into his or her ADD or ADHD treatment plan creates a solid, stable foundation for the child’s long-term success.
Family involvement not only ensures that everyone is on the same page with the goals for treatment, but also shows your child or teen that they have your full support.
Before getting started, though, we need to gather an accurate diagnosis. If we determine treatment for ADD or ADHD is necessary, then we’ll begin to create a customized treatment plan.
Depending on the child, the plan might include options like:
- Changing life activities and recreation, such as time spent gaming or online
- Improving diet/nutrition, including supplementation and meal scheduling
- Identifying food sensitivities
- Social skills training through specialized group counseling
- Behavior modification
- Increasing exercise and time outside
- Improving sleep quality and schedule
- Practicing relaxation techniques, including meditation
- Medication therapy, when indicated
Extending the likelihood of treatment success even further, our team can also coordinate with your child’s school to assist with developing an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or 504 plan, as determined by your child’s unique and specific needs.
From the moment you walk in our door, we’re going to take care of your child… and your family.
